Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique "negotiations" ever. Doug won the toss but, we both won in the end..
I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music."
It looks like his upcoming album, Blueprint 3, will be coming out under the joint venture he has between his Roc Nation and Live Nation.
The Blastmaster KRS-One found out that pioneers are well respected in the Dirty South, as Atlanta emcees came out in droves to bless the mic last night (May 21) at the Midtown District’s Loft venue.
The Bronx legend was in town for his organization’s Atlanta Hip-Hop Appreciation Week, which runs until May 24.
Co-headlining the event was Duck Down’s Buckshot, who will be releasing a joint LP with the Blastmaster this summer entitled Survival Skills.
The show featured a staggering amount of local and national artists from the past and present: including Senor Kaos, Punchline, Killer Mike, Goodie Mob’s Khujo, Sparky D, Nappy Roots, Kool DJ Red Alert, The Regime, Stacey Epps, Clan Destined, Ness Lee, Bobby Creekwater, Stat Quo, MC Shan, and many others.
Shan, the sworn enemy of BDP during the famous Bridge Wars, showed full support during his former rival’s performance.
Now Hip-Hop elders and great friends, Shan gladly assisted KRS in a hypeman role during the performance of “South Bronx.”
The concert was also highlighted by a memorable 10 minute plus freestyle session where nearly every emcee present touched the mic to rhyme over beats from Dipset (“Dipset Anthem”), LL Cool J (“I Shot Ya”), Shyne (“Bad Boys”), 50 Cent (“Wanksta”), Ill Al Skratch (“Where My Homiez”), and Raekwon (“Ice Cream”).
Afterward, Atlanta’s Temple of Hip-Hop members presented KRS-One with a plaque for his social, lyrical, and spiritual contributions to the spread of Hip-Hop culture.

Willie D of the groundbreaking Houston group The Geto Boys remains incarcerated of federal fraud charges.
As reported last week Willie D was arrested by federal authorities and charged with wire fraud for allegedly scamming numerous foreign buyers out of Apple iPhones.
According to court documents, Willie D (William James Dennis) used a front company named Texas One Wireless for the scam.
When a buyer through eBay showed interest, the Houston rapper would have them place the order outside of eBay through email.
After banking the electronic funds transfers in his personal account, Willie D allegedly would forward a false tracking number without ever delivering the goods.
Wire fraud is a federal crime which yields a maximum fine of $250,000 and 20 years in prison.
A Houston federal magistrate has required that Willie D hand over his passport, and listed his bond at $100,000.
For release, the Houston emcee will have to come up with 10% of the stated amount ($10,000).
At press time, Willie D, 42, remains in federal custody at a Houston detention center.

Louis Vuitton recently hit up XXL about Rick Ross wearing fake LV sunglasses on the cover of their magazine, now the rapper is trying to explain. Rick Ross says that the glasses he wore on the cover were customized with solid gold accents by Jacob Bernstein, also known as "The Sunglasses Pimp."
"It’s the same thing as buying a Rolls Royce and having it tricked out; just because the product has been customized by me doesn’t take away from the fact that the frames are authentic Louis Vuitton Millionaires," Bernstein says, who has customized glasses for Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Fergie and even Brad Pitt. Michael D. Pantalony, a Louis Vuitton Malletier, countered the statement by saying "We were dismayed to see the cover," continuing "Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.”
Pantalony went on to say "The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit." He continues "Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal."
Pharrell Says The Neptunes Are Plotting Rap Comeback, “We’ve Got A Lot Of New Treats” [With Exclusive Video]
Pharrell hinted at turning his attention back towards The Neptunes, renewing his focus on hip-hop production, last night (May 12) while backstage at BET’s 106 and Park.
“We got a lot of new treats,” Pharrell told XXLMag.com, with Shay and Chad Hugo nodding in agreement. “I know I’ve been out doing the rock n’ roll thing, but know that the empire strikes back.” First up will be Clipse’s third studio album, ‘Til The Casket Drops, which Pharrell admits to providing a “sizeable amount” of the beats, including the collabo with a certain Harlem rapper. “The feature with Cam’ron is pretty serious,” said Shay, breaking his silence, with Pharrell concurring, “Cam blacks on that.” [Watch Below]
However, the Virginia super producer was decidedly against a hip-hop direction for a next N.E.R.D. album. “If you were to ever go on the road with us, and see 80,000 people jumping at festivals, you’d know that there’s room for a hip-hop element — but those kids wanna jump,” said Pharrell. “And we’re absolutely hooked on it.”
“It’s got more steroids in it,” he said of the trio’s more rock-oriented sound, adding, “but hip-hop is definitely one of the shots.
